NoteLabs — Privacy Policy

What NoteLabs stores

NoteLabs stores the following in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB), on your device only:

• Your notes — the title, text, and any images you add to them.
• Page information— when you create a note on a web page, the note records that page's web address (URL), its site name, and the date and time the note was created, so the note can be shown alongside the page it belongs to. Under Chrome Web Store's definitions this counts as web history, which is why it is disclosed on the store listing. It is stored locally and never transmitted anywhere.
• Sticky note positions — where you placed a note on a page, and its size.
• Your preferences — folders you create, folder order, the selected theme, and any custom background colours you save.

What NoteLabs does not do

• It does not send your notes, your browsing history, or any other data to any server.
• It does not require an account or a sign-up, and does not ask for your name, email address, or any other personal details.
• It does not use analytics, tracking, advertising, or any third-party service.
• Under no circumstances is your data sold or transferred to third parties. Since the developer does not have access to this data, any sale or sharing of information is strictly impossible.
• It does not read the pages you browse in the background, and does not record your clicks, scrolling, or keystrokes.
• It works fully offline.

When NoteLabs touches a web page

NoteLabs only acts on a page when you explicitly ask it to — when you pin a sticky note onto the page, or start drawing on it. Only then does it add its own elements to that page. It reads the page's address and title so your note can be linked to it. It does not copy or store the content of the pages you visit.

Permissions

• storage — saves your notes and preferences locally.
• activeTab / tabs— reads the current tab's address and title so a note can be linked to the page, and places sticky notes on it.
• scripting — adds the sticky note or drawing canvas to a page, only when you click Pin or Draw.
• sidePanel— the extension's interface is a side panel.
• downloads — saves a note as a .docx file when you choose Export to Word. The file is written to your own computer.
• host permissions — you can take notes on any website you choose, so the extension cannot know in advance which sites those will be. Nothing is added to a page until you explicitly act.

Your data, your control

You can delete any note at any time from within the extension. To remove everything NoteLabs has stored, uninstall the extension — your browser deletes its local storage along with it. Because the data lives only on your device, the developer cannot access, recover, or delete it for you.

Children

The NoteLabs extension is intended for general use and is not suitable for individuals under the age of 13.

Changes to this policy

If NoteLabs ever changes how it handles data, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. Any new data handling will also be disclosed on the Chrome Web Store listing before the update is released.
